Farm Tour

Our goat set-up has evolved over the years. We started with a make-do shed and from experience, planned what we hoped would be a good goat barn.

Doe Barn

Front view. Does are housed on the lower right with
hay loft above. Milking and feed room is on the left.

Side view with rain catchment system.

From the back. The overhang is the loafing area.
The building on the right is the workshop.

Loafing area with does not loafing.

A hog panel across the barn doors separates
young goats from their dams at feeding time.

Interior. This barn was handbuilt by my husband,
who made it with home-milled beams and posts.

Free plans for the hay feeder can be downloaded from Premier1.

Hay loft ladder

The ladder is a kid magnet!

Hay loft with hay chute directly above the hay feeder.

View from the hay chute into the hay feeder. I love
not having to wade through grabby goats to fill it!

Feeders from the barn side

Feeders from the milking room side

Milking room with Daisy on the milking stand. The cabinet in the
background contains goat supplies. Feed is in the cans on the left.

Milking room skylights. These weren't in the original plan,
but we were using leftover metal roofing panels and came
up short. The translucent panels make up the difference.

Temporary kidding pen is set up as needed.

Buck Barn

Interior

The bucks' hay feeder is made from the same plans mentioned
for the does' hay feeder. Plans include both double & single sided.

View from the back. The gate opens to the buck pasture.
